Tibetans, Uighurs, Hong Kong'ers, Taiwanese and Chinese demonstrate at China's Embassy

https://www.facebook.com/events/176169740467748/

For the first time in Denmark the Chinese Embassy faces collective resistance from some of the peoples that are most directly suppressed or threatened by China. On Tuesday 10 March at 4.30 pm we protest against China's ruthless behaviour but also to show that we could all live in harmony with China if only the Chinese leaders would let everyone live as they chose.

Ms Zumretay Arkin from World Uyghur Congress in Munich visits Denmark to tell about re-education camps and total surveillance. There will be speeches by the Hong Kong activist Mr Andrew Chan, chairman of Taiwan Corner, Mr Michael Danielsen and exile Chinese Ms Marion Chen from Our Future House. We will also read the statement by Tibet's exile President, Mr Lobsang Sangay. Danish politics are represented by Mr Christian Jul (Red-Green Alliance), Mr Thomas Rohden from Danish China-Critical Society and Mr Anders Storgaard, Conservative Youth.

For 71 years, China has insisted on forcing the will of its Communist Party upon everyone. This has led to endless Human Rights violations. But no-one become friends through the use of force. Friendship and peace can only exist on a voluntary basis.

When the mentioned peoples gather at the Embassy on Tuesday, it will not be as enemies of China but as a demonstration of the peaceful co-existence that China tries in vain to achieve through force. We already co-exist peacefully though freedom and mutual respect for our cultural and religious differences.

We stand together on values such as self-determination, democracy, rule of law and Human Rights. It is our hope that the Chinese leadership will one day understand that the threat they perceive us as only exists in themselves and in the repressive regime that they seek to uphold with every means.

The demonstration is organised by the Tibet Support Committee, Denmark, and the Danish Tibetan Cultural Society and takes place in front of the Chinese Embassy at Øregårds Alle 25 in Hellerup om 10 March at 4.30-5.30 pm. We walk from Hellerup Station at 4 pm.

The demonstration marks the 61st anniversary of the Peoples Uprising in Lhasa in 1959. This year also marks the 70th anniversary of China'a invasion of the independent central Tibetan state.

This year the Danish Tibetan Cultural Society also celebrates its 35th anniversary.

The well-known composer and author Mr Henrik Strube will entertain with some of his songs.

The artist Jens Galschiøt has kindly lent us two bronze sculptures of Hong Kong activists which will be displayed on the stage.

  • Borgerforslag om verbalnoten til Kina
    Annuller regeringens verbalnote om Tibet!

    Underskriv borgerforslaget her:

Læs uddybningen i selve forslaget.

Støttekomiteen for Tibet forsøger nu at få Folketinget til at annullere verbalnoten. Det gør vi gennem dette borgerforslag. Vi håber, at du vil underskrive det og bede dine venner gøre det samme!
